Low Back Pain

There are different therapies that can be used to help with low back pain.  Lower back pain can be caused by a number of conditions such as disc herniations, degenerative disc disease, and arthritis.  Sprains and strains affecting your ability to function, such as being unable to bend over to tie your shoes or having difficulty getting out of a chair, require prompt attention.  Treatments with spinal manipulation of lower back conditions can be extremely effective, both for new problems and older ones.  These treatments are for acute, subacute, and chronic back pain.

For acute low back pain spinal manipulation is recommended. Exercise at home, physical therapy and supervised exercise are not recommended.

For subacute and chronic back pain spinal manipulation, acupuncture, relaxation techniques are recommended.

There are some noninvasive therapies for low back pain. Studies have shown that the noninvasive therapies like: TENS therapy, traction, lumbar belts/supports, are not as effective.
